Nikki Tanguay: Photographer
I've been taking pictures as a hobby since I was about 5 years old and I rarely go anywhere without my camera (in fact, I can even recall being teased about this upon occasion). However, my real passion for photography evolved after the birth of my 3 beautiful children. Through the images I have captured with my own children, I have been able to express to others exactly who they were at that specific moment in their lives when the photo was taken. I can look at those pictures today and it’s almost like they’re frozen in time and I can vividly remember those big blue innocent eyes filled with wonder and excitement.
I live for pictures and I think they speak for themselves, telling a story all of their own. My style is quite simple and instead of having designer backdrops with props that tend to draw attention away from the person’s face, I focus on the beauty of the world that allows people the space and freedom to relax and really be themselves. I want to capture those fleeting moments that we all take for granted (you know, the ones that pass us by so quickly that by the time we realize it happened, it’s too late and already a distant memory with sketchy details). My best photos are the unrehearsed ones and I will strive to capture those moments that really tug at your heart and literally take your breath away.
Although my style and preference is to be
in “God’s Country” capturing those special moments at
a park, by the water or even in your own backyard … living in
Michigan makes it difficult with the bitter winters we tend to
have. Therefore, I have set up a small studio in our home in which
I have several backgrounds to choose from. If there are
any special items you’d like to bring to personalize your
session, please feel free to bring them along.
